How can we embed science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in youth work and other community learning development (CLD) settings? How can this support young people’s wellbeing and other social outcomes within youth work and CLD?
Join Science Ceilidh for a training session in exploring STEM using a youth work-based approach. The session will involve hearing about some case studies from their Curiosity in Action programme, spending time in smaller breakouts to explore planning out sessions and building connections with other youth workers and researchers. You will leave the session with some practical tools and resources that you can take forward and apply to your work.
This training session is targeted at youth workers, CLD practitioners including early years and researchers including PhD students.
For those coming in from a youth work/CLD background, this is an opportunity to explore how you can pull out the STEM in the activities you do with your groups, how you can support youth work outcomes through STEM and how you can build connections with local scientists.
For researchers, youth work and CLD takes a relational and youth-led approach to working with young people which sometimes differs from other public engagement approaches Join the session to learn how you could take a youth-led approach and connect with youth workers and CLD practitioners to collaborate and focus on social impact with your engagement activities.
