The Impact of Psychological Trauma

Who is this for?
Youth workers that work face to face offering support for young people that may have experienced Trauma. *Youth workers offering group work, 1:1 wellbeing support, senior youth workers and youth work managers.

This training will introduce you to look at the links between trauma, ACES, addiction, mental health and the criminal justice system.
The half day will introduce you to the experiences in childhood, including from within the womb prior to birth may contribute and shape who we become in adulthood.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand and define trauma in the context of an overwhelming distressing or disturbing emotional event.
• Raise awareness and uinderstand the impact on the lives of the individual.
• Raise awareness and understand coping strategies used by those who have experienced trauma.
• Raise awareness to communication with those who have experienced trauma.

  The course includes large group discussions, small group activities, context film clips and reflection.
