YouthLink Scotland, the national agency for youth work, is delighted to announce that the current deputy Chief Executive, Tim Frew, has been appointed as the organisation’s new Chief Executive Officer, and will take up the post at the end of 2018.
Commenting on the appointment of Tim Frew, Chair of YouthLink Scotland, the Very Rev Dr Lorna Hood OBE said:
“Tim Frew was the unanimous choice of the Sub Committee to take up the post of CEO on the retirement of Jim Sweeney.
“He not only has extensive knowledge of both the statutory and voluntary sector but he impressed the Committee with his vision for the future of YouthLink Scotland, building on the solid foundation he inherits from Jim, and seeking new opportunities for developing the important work of establishing YouthLink Scotland, as the national voice for youth work in Scotland and beyond.”
Speaking after the announcement, Tim Frew said he was “thrilled” to be taking on the role.
He said: “It is a huge privilege to be asked to be the new Chief Executive of YouthLink Scotland. Youth work is for all and youth work changes lives by encouraging young people to reach their full potential.
“Every day youth work organisations of all shapes and sizes are making an enormous difference to the lives of young people across Scotland. It starts with valuing and loving young people for who they are and walking alongside them as they find their place in the world.
“I’m really looking forward to working with the board and staff of YouthLink Scotland, the sector, the Scottish Government and other key partners as we continue to grow and develop our offer to young people.”
