As a Learning Assistant (Youth Worker), you’ll be an integral part of Glasgow Life’s established Youth Work Team, reporting to the Libraries and Communities Officer. You’ll play an essential role in delivering youth work interventions to young people aged 12-18 across the city.

Youth Work is an informal education practice that supports young people’s social, emotional and educational development. It can be adapted across a variety of settings and typically engages with young people within their local communities, in schools or on the streets. You’ll develop, adapt and deliver a wide range of learning experiences for groups of young people aged 12-18. You’ll actively seek out and engage with new and existing groups of young people across the city and support the delivery of the service’s strategic objectives.

You’ll be keen and enthusiastic, able to relate well to a number of different groups of young people and be flexible and adaptable, able to deliver in different contexts, whether in a school-based setting, partner organisation or on the streets. You’ll be able to plan and deliver innovative youth work sessions based on the needs of the young people you engage with and evaluate the impact of your work.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

Location

Hybrid. You will spend most of your time delivering activities within Glasgow Life venues, voluntary organisations, and local schools. You will also spend part of your week in Glasgow Life office bases or working from home to plan and prepare for delivery.

Pay details

The listed salary is for a full-time role. If you’re applying for a part-time, pay will be calculated on a pro-rata basis. The hourly rate is £15.24 per hour.
