RS Macdonald Charitable Trust

In every part of Scotland RS Macdonald Trust awards are helping charities to make an impact by giving support and help to those who need it most. The research is helping to create better futures for children and adults who are facing multiple challenges.

The trust supports Scottish charities under the following funding themes: Tackling Child Abuse & Neglect, Visual impairment, Neurological conditions, Animal welfare and Medical research.

The RS Macdonald Charitable Trust provides around £3m in grants every year to charities working in Scotland. The Trust will consider applications for:

Small Grants

There are no deadlines for the small grants programme, and you can apply for up to £15,000 at any time of year. Multi-year applications under this programme are not normally considered. The programme typically makes awards to support both:

Running costs for small, community-based initiatives (often which are volunteer led).
One-off pieces of work which can help develop a charity, such as the purchase of equipment/infrastructure; the development of partnership work or service evaluation.

Main Grants

These grants are awarded twice a year. These are grants of more than £15,000, and are typically multi-year.

The next deadline for your application depends on the theme of your work
