It’s with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Andy Bathgate, Chief Executive of SU Scotland from 2001-2020 and a dedicated SU volunteer since his teenage years.
It is with great sadness that we note the loss of Andy Bathgate, who passed away last week. Andy was a great friend to the youth work sector for many years, as CEO of SU Scotland from 2001-2020 and as a volunteer with many other charities that support children and young people into his retirement.
Andy was Chief Executive of SU Scotland for almost 20 years. In that time, he expanded the size and reach of the organisation including the expansion of its activity centres supporting outdoor education for schools all over Scotland.
Andy maintained a high personal example of credibility, integrity and humility throughout his career and was always very self-effacing in his leadership style.
Andy was the winner of a National Youth Work Award in 2020 in the Inspirational Leader category as pictured. We offer our condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends.
