Our Futures and AI: A Youth Work Toolkit

This toolkit is designed to be a practical, supportive companion as you help young people explore the world of AI. You don’t need to be a tech expert to use it.

Explore the toolkit for some key principles and some lift-and-use activities.

It was co-designed with The Citadel and Cromar Future Group – youth workers and young people exploring the topics together. Supported by Digital Skills Education, Scottish AI Alliance and Sopra Steria, and funded by the Include Plus Network.

AI and Youth Work: Supporting Materials

These materials support the main toolkit, helping you think more about how to explore Artificial Intelligence with groups of young people in a youth work setting.

AI: It’s not just the future – it’s NOW!

Hilary Phillips, the Digital Youth Work Lead at YouthLink Scotland, created a final report for the Our Futures and AI project.

Reflecting on the project, she wrote:

“The use of AI in every walk of life is developing so rapidly.  It is a massive challenge to keep pace and so important to support young people to explore this new iteration of powerful and easy access technology which is potentially so pervasive and disruptive.

As we reflect back on an interesting and demanding project, there is the sense that it was the right thing at the right time.”
