The team at YouthLink Scotland play an important role in developing and supporting the youth work sector to deliver for young people. During 2023-24 YouthLink Scotland delivered over 2500 individual learning places and around 1000 e-learning courses were undertaken.

We have delivered bespoke training and open sessions on a range of relevant topics, primarily for youth work, while bringing in partners from the wider CLD field and allied sectors such as formal education, health and policing. This year we have reached people from around 500 organisations, working in every local authority in Scotland, in the rest of the UK and beyond.

As young people’s worlds are changing rapidly around them youth work needs to adapt and we make sure our training is responsive to those developing needs, embedded in ongoing themes that are key for the sector. Be it global change such as digitalisation and the climate emergency or policy driven such as Education Reform or UNCRC, we work with the sector to make sure that youth work is up to date, represented and confident to deliver for young people.

In 23-24 we have been responsive in our professional learning offer and have:

“I appreciated the space to collectively come together and share challenges, experiences and approaches. This is the support I like to see continuing. This demonstrates and exemplifies how we facilitate our youth work spaces. Providing a circularity of experience.”

Our major flagship training events; the National Youth Work Conference, Policy Convention and Digital Youth Work Conference were well attended and well received, creating spaces for the sector to share practice, share innovation and raise their collective voice.

This year we were proud to achieve the CLD Standards Council Standards Mark in recognition of the high-quality training we provide to the sector. It’s important to us that our training provides reflective and connecting space that is meaningful for practitioners.

We’re excited about new developments in 2024-25. As well as the quality training you expect on core areas such as the National Youth Work Outcomes and Skills Framework, Prevention, Digital Youth Work, Research skills and Youth Participation, we will be bringing you a new YouthLink Scotland e-learning platform and the launch of the updated National Youth Work Induction Checklist.
