Sexual Health Awareness

This interactive workshop supports youth workers to confidently explore and respond to the realities of young people’s sexual health and relationships in today’s world. Grounded in current practice, the session examines the social, cultural, and digital influences shaping young people’s experiences, while building practical skills to support informed, safe, and respectful conversations.

Participants will engage in discussion, reflection, and scenario-based activities designed to increase confidence, knowledge, and communication skills when addressing sexual health and wellbeing with young people.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

• Explore key influences on young people’s sexual health, including the impact of social media and online pornography on expectations, behaviours, and relationships.
• Understand the legal framework around sexual consent, and develop practical approaches to support young people in recognising, communicating, and negotiating consent.
• Recognise the importance of open conversations about contraception and condom use, and feel confident signposting young people to accurate, accessible information and relevant services.
• Develop skills and confidence in communication, practising how to respond to questions and initiate meaningful, age-appropriate discussions about sexual health and relationships.
