Scotland’s Next Generation is for young people aged 14-17 years old from anywhere in Scotland who would like to take part in an Outward Bound experience but need financial support to be able to.
Who is it for?
Scotland’s Next Generation is for young people aged 14-17 years old from anywhere in Scotland. These young people would like to take part in an Outward Bound experience but need financial support to be able to.
They’ll need some stamina and a basic level of fitness as there are lots of outdoor adventures during the course.
The young person must meet one of the below criteria:
What will they do?
As part of Scotland’s Next Generation, they’ll take part in Outward Bound’s 7 Day Ridge Adventure or 14 Day Summit Adventure at our Loch Eil centre in the Highlands.
Either the Ridge or Summit Adventure can be chosen depending on the Young Person’s previous experience of outdoor adventure. We can help you decide which course is best!
Before the course, they’ll meet up as a group with an instructor to prepare. They also have the support of a course mentor, who will meet them before and after their course.
Are you a teacher or youth worker? Would an Outward Bound experience help a young person you know – if only they had the financial support to be able to attend?
Your nominees must be aged 14-17. You should also think that they’ll be able to complete a challenging outdoor adventure course, which includes overnight expeditions in the Highlands.
The majority of the course fee is covered through funding but if accepted, the individual, parent or guardian will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £75 for Ridge courses or £100 for Summit courses.
