Join the YTAS staff team in July 2024 at the National Festival of Youth Theatre (NFYT) as an Amigo. Amigos are our festival volunteers and are vital to the delivery and planning of the event. Over the course of the festival Amigos will assist workshop facilitators, act as compere at the festival performances, plan and deliver the social activities and become role models to festival attendees. Training will be provided in advance of the event and you will be supported 1-2-1 by our Volunteer Coordinator. YTAS will also enrol you on the PVG Scheme Record.

Amigo Main Responsibilities:

In return for your time and commitment YTAS will offer you:

What is NFYT?
NFYT is the largest gathering of youth theatres in the UK. It enables young people to come together, discover and celebrate a shared passion, offering them the opportunity to develop as artists, audience members and creative thinkers.

The festival will welcome around 200 participants representing youth theatres from across Scotland and beyond. Seven youth theatre shows will be performed at Ayr Gaiety Theatre, and there will be an education programme of artistic workshops delivered by leading theatre practitioners. Social events will take place in our campsite marquee at Rozelle Park.

Celebrating PRIDE
For the first time in 2024, NFYT will shine a spotlight on LGBTQIA+ artists to celebrate the diversity of our youth theatre family. The Amigo team will help us to ensure LGBTQIA+ inclusion is at the core of NFYT activity and will lead on developing plans for PRIDE celebrations at the festival.

With this in mind, YTAS are particularly interested in receiving applications from LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies.
