Climate Week 2024 - How to get involved and resources for your use!

Every year since 2016, communities and organisations from all across Scotland have come together for Scotland’s Climate Week. This year, from 23rd to 29th September, it’s a chance to celebrate and encourage climate action, and to learn more about tackling climate change by sharing ‘Stories for Change’. Share your story using #ScotClimateWeek to help spark new ideas and inspire others to act.

What is Climate Week?

Climate Week is an annual event to deliver upon the vision of the Public Engagement Strategy for Climate Change (PES), that everyone understands the global climate emergency and embraces their role in our transition to net zero. It takes place on Monday 23 – Sunday 29 September 2024. Climate Week is the element of our programme of delivery for the PES with the widest target audience. This audience includes individuals, businesses, organisations and communities across Scotland.

What’s happening this year?

This year, Scotland’s Climate Week is focussed on “Stories for change – inspire, act, transform”. Stories can trigger an emotional response, harnessing the power of motivation, imagination, and personal values, which can drive the most powerful and permanent forms of social change.

The climate crisis does not always garner the same attention as other topics as climate change can still feel abstract, impersonal and even distant. Stories can build a personal connection that will help make the problem feel easier to understand, more relatable and breakdown barriers to change.
