Enabling Conversations on Suicide Project Opportunity

Suicide Prevention Scotland is looking for your help with the next stage of the Enabling Conversations Toolkit – a guide created by and for young people to find help and support when experiencing painful feelings about suicide. Find out more and get in touch by 14th May.

Creating Hope Together year one delivery plan (23-24) set out a key priority to build more understanding of suicide risk and behaviour amongst children and young people and use this to improve responses.  On this a report was created, The Insight Report, which lays out the intelligence and knowledge available in relation to CYP’s needs and suicide prevention.

From this work Suicide Prevention Scotland heard from young people that a parent or a peer is often the first person they approach when they want to speak about their mental health and suicide, but that for young people this can be daunting and for parents there is a great fear around getting this wrong.  To meet this the Enabling Conversation resource was co-developed with young people, adults and subject experts. This was launched in September 2025.

The resource provides guidance for young people to seek support and information to help adults respond.

What work is taking place May to June 2026?

They are keen to develop these videos co-productively with a teacher, they’re also asking for youth work staff, so that their role in promoting the toolkit can be seen. This would mean committing two of the three below sessions:
