The Scottish Environmental and Outdoor Education Centres Association (SEOECA), is honoured to announce that HRH the Duke of Edinburgh has become Royal Patron of the charity.
His Royal Highness visited SEOECA’s Belmont Outdoor Education Centre on 1 July where The Duke met young people participating in outdoor learning, staff, and other supporters of the charity’s work.
The Royal Patronage recognises SEOECA’s long history and commitment to delivering high quality outdoor and environmental learning experiences for the young people of Scotland. Every year SEOECA welcomes over 10,000 young people to its centres and outdoor learning programmes. SEOECA works with participants to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills and helps them create a deeper connection with the natural environment.
This aligns with His Royal Highness’s long-standing work to promote non-formal education and its critical role in providing young people with the necessary skills and capabilities to develop their potential.
Jamie Miller, Chief Executive of SEOECA, said: “We are deeply honoured to receive the support of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh as our Royal Patron. This recognition highlights the vital role outdoor education plays in young people’s development and wellbeing. We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness to Belmont Outdoor Education Centre to celebrate this important moment in our charity’s history, with our staff, partners, and participants.”
