Published annually as part of the Attainment Scotland Fund (ASF) Evaluation, this report summarises evidence around attainment and health and wellbeing measures, and the gap between pupils from the most and least deprived areas. The overall purpose is to add to the assessment of how the ASF contributes towards closing the poverty related attainment gap. This report looks at the impact of the ASF, drawing on analysis of quantitative data on attainment and health and wellbeing. It considers measures for monitoring progress on closing the poverty-related attainment gap as set out in the National Improvement Framework and Improvement Plan.
For a broader view on the poverty related attainment gap from other data and evidence there are two relevant publications – Wider Evidence Sources in 2024 Report and the interactive resource that has also been developed, Evidence and Insights on the Poverty Related Attainment Gap: A Presentation. These resources bring together analysis of a wider set of surveys and data, which offer further insights into the nature of the poverty-related attainment gap and the experiences of children and young people, and their families, who are most affected by it.
