We have just set live a new e-learning offer, designed to help support youth work practitioners support young people to develop the skills they need to survive and thrive in the online world.
We are delighted to be launching the course during Cyber Scotland Week 2026, as the content has a strong focus on helping young people to stay safe and secure online.
The course represents up to 10 hours of learning for the learner to complete at their own pace. It covers all the main themes of digital youth work…. digital skills, online safety, cyber resilience, critical thinking, wellbeing, and inclusion.
The course content is designed to be practical and resource-based and includes plenty of time for thinking and planning. How you use to content is flexible and depends on whether you want an overview or to dive into the detail. You’ll find videos, quizzes, articles, reflection activities and session planning.
The material is designed for youth workers and suitable for anyone who works with young people. The course will help learners understand more about the role of youth work in supporting young people’s online lives. This includes understanding digital safeguarding, cyber resilience and youth work’s role in relation to online harms.
For the vast majority of young people, digital is an integral part of their lives, a key aspect of education, socialising and having fun. It therefore makes complete sense for youth work to embrace digital, developing the knowledge and flexibility to use digital within youth work practice.
As a way of introducing the course we are currently running a 90 minute online session, “Let’s Talk about Online” which you can sign up to here.
