Position Statement on Plans to End Fee Waiver for Volunteers’ PVG

YouthLink Scotland believes that Disclosure Scotland’s proposed plan to remove the membership fee waiver for the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme will increase stress on already threadbare youth work services.

YouthLink Scotland has issued a position statement on Disclosure Scotland’s proposed plan to end the fee waiver for the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

The proposals would introduce a new ‘fee discount structure’ introduced, meaning young volunteers and youth work organisations could face fees of up to £70 per registration to the scheme, potentially adding another financial and administrateive burden on services that are already stretched to their extreme.

We do, however, understand that the consultation is about suggesting ideas for the future to deliver sustainably (including volunteers), so we encourage YouthLink Scotland members and broader stakeholders to respond to the consultation.
