This guidance has been designed to assist school leaders, school staff, and local authorities to implement a consistent and robust whole school approach to responding to racism and racist incidents in schools. It should be read alongside the Addressing racism and racist incidents guidance.

To support implementation of the new guidance, Education Scotland will deliver a professional learning session on the guidance.

Additional resources to support the implementation of the guidance will be available on the Education Scotland website from summer 2026.

New information has also been published on Parent Club for parents on how to support their child if they experience racism at school, which is aligned to the WSA.
