To mark the second anniversary of the UNCRC (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act, young people supported by Children First’s Ayrshire Bairns Hoose launched new research aimed at improving experiences for children navigating the justice system after being affected by trauma or abuse.
The project gathered views from young people and professionals, highlighting the importance of safe environments, trusted relationships and greater choice for children.
Findings showed many interview spaces feel intimidating and unsuitable, while the justice system can be complex and traumatic.
The young researchers hope their recommendations will help shape future Bairns Hoose services and drive meaningful, child-centred change.
