Reform UK has published its Scottish manifesto for the 2026 election, setting out a programme focused on the economy, public services, education, housing and justice. While the manifesto contains little direct reference to youth work, it does include a number of commitments relevant to young people and the issues affecting their futures.

The Scottish Liberal Democrats have published their 2026 manifesto, Change with Fairness at its Heart, and it contains a number of commitments relevant to young people, youth work and the issues affecting communities across Scotland.

SNP Manifesto Highlights Opportunities to Invest in Young People
The Scottish National Party has published its 2026 manifesto, setting out priorities for the next Parliament across public services, poverty, communities and the economy. While the manifesto does not explicitly reference youth work, it contains a number of commitments that align strongly with the role youth work already plays in supporting young people across the country.

UK and EU Finalise Agreement to Bring UK into Erasmus+ in 2027
Students, apprentices and young people will soon be able to study and work across Europe, as the UK and EU sign the legal text to formally bring the UK into Erasmus+ in 2027. Over 100,000 people are expected to benefit in the first year alone, including apprentices on placements in leading European companies, school groups taking part in cultural exchanges, and organisations collaborating on new cross-border initiatives.

The Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution is now enrolling for their accredited Mediator and Mediation Skills Training. Starting on Monday 11th May, this engaging online programme runs across five sessions over four weeks and blends mediation theory with hands-on practice.

Youth Work Recognised in Scottish Green Manifesto
The Scottish Greens’ 2026 manifesto includes direct proposals on youth work, including improving access, delivering a new National Youth Work Strategy, and integrating youth work more closely with education and mental health support. It also positions youth work as part of a preventative approach to justice. Alongside this, wider proposals on education reform, tackling poverty and expanding access to services align with the contribution youth work makes to supporting young people and communities

Five-year PVG Scheme Membership Now in Place
From 1st April, Disclosure Scotland has introduced a new five-year membership period for the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. The new membership model replaces lifetime membership for PVG scheme members. This change ensures scheme membership remains current and supports safeguarding by keeping information up to date.
